wordpress pretty permalinks redirect .htaccess breaks webdav – howto fix

April 8th, 2011 No comments

on a wordpress installation i had the problem that the redirect rules wordpress generates when you enable “pretty” permalinks broke my webdav functionality on the site. there is a simple fix to this problem. you just have to edit the .htaccess file wordpress generates as follows. to be honest i have no clue of rewrite rules and just copypasted this from another site i couldn’t find anymore. so use at your own risk.

## BEGIN WordPress

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

# END WordPress

change to:

# BEGIN WordPress

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_METHOD} =GET
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]

# END WordPress

darktable – photography workflow application

February 28th, 2011 No comments

i just stumbled over this nice and free application.

http://darktable.sourceforge.net/about.shtml

a virtual lighttable and darkroom for photographers: it manages your digital negatives in a database and lets you view them through a zoomable lighttable. it also enables you to develop raw images and enhance them.

this project tries to fill the gap between the many excellent existing free raw converters and image management tools (such as e.g. ufraw, rawstudio, f-spot, digikam, shotwell). The user interface is built around efficient caching of image metadata and mipmaps, all stored in a database. the main focus is on user interaction, both in terms of a smooth interface design as well as processing speed. high quality output is also one of our goals.

all editing is fully non-destructive and only operates on cached image buffers for display. the full image is only converted during export. raw image loading is done using libraw and rawspeed, high-dynamic range, and standard image formats such as jpeg are also supported. the core operates completely on floating point values, so darktable can not only be used for photography but also for scientifically acquired images or output of renderers (high dynamic range).

it is amazingly fast compared to other equivalent (but costly) tools like adobe lightroom, apple aperture or bibble labs.

it also has plugins that enhance the funcionality a lot. in my opinion it’s functionally equal to the highcost payware.

try it out!

howto ubuntu 10.04 nvidia g210 hdmi audio tutorials

January 21st, 2011 No comments

Viel Erfolg!

mythtv userjob handbrake transcode / convert to x264

September 8th, 2010 2 comments

#!/bin/sh

# mythtv multi-pass auto-transcode to x264 with HandBrakeCLI, remove commercials, and delete original recording bash script
# This Script is copyright © 2010 Defcronyke Webmaster, The Eternal Void Network.

# variables
# $1 must be the directory/file to be transcoded. (in mythtv enter: "%DIR%/%FILE%")
# $2 must be the output directory / file name. The directory must be writeable by the mythtv user (in mythtv enter: "/path/to/output-dir/%TITLE% - %PROGSTARTISO%.mkv")
# $3 must be chanid (in mythtv enter: "%CHANID%")
# $4 must be starttime. (in mythtv enter: "%STARTTIME%")
# full userjob command should look like this: /path/to/this-script/nameofyourscript.sh "%DIR%/%FILE%" "/path/to/output-dir/%TITLE% - %PROGSTARTISO%.mp4" "%CHANID%" "%STARTTIME%"

intervalltimer diy tutorial

September 4th, 2010 5 comments

  • 1x TANTAL 22/16 (= Tantal-Kondensator, Rm 2,5, 22µF/16V)
  • 2x SB 130 (=Schottky Diode, DO41, 30V, 1A )
  • 1x PIC 10F222-I/P (=10f222 als Dip8)

dslr intervalometer

July 26th, 2010 No comments

i stumbled upon this nice tutorial: http://cms.diodenring.de/electronic/microcontroller/82-intervalltimerv2

it shows you how to build a tiny and cheap intervalometer for your dslr-camera. really tiny. i never build something so small before. but i will definetly try it out. the materials cost only 87cents!

update: here is another one with more features. http://www.doc-diy.net/photo/smatrig2/

RawTherapee

RawTherapee

a few days ago i found this very nice raw-picture editor and converter. its pretty close to what you can do with the commercial variants like adobe lightroom, apple aperture or bibblepro.
the nice thing with this piece of software is that it also supports linux systems. which from the commercial ones only bibblepro does. thumbs up! dope stuff.
you can find out more here: http://www.rawtherapee.com/?mitem=2
AND DONT FORGET to donate the author a bit.

compile dcraw raw image converter under debian lenny to support canon eos 7d .cr2-files

April 20th, 2010 No comments

after a long search i finally found a method to compile dcraw under debian so that it can handle the raw files of my canon eos 7d.

just do the following:
download the c-source from http://www.cybercom.net/~dcoffin/dcraw/dcraw.c
open a terminal and navigate to the folder you downloaded the c-source.
then install two libraries needed for compiling dcraw

apt-get install libjpeg62-dev

apt-get install liblcms1-dev

after that compile dcraw with the following command

gcc -O3 -o dcraw dcraw.c -lm -ljpeg -llcms

then copy the compiled version of the program (dcraw not dcraw.c) to your /usr/bin

now you are set.
navigate to a folder with raw pics and just type

dcraw *

now it will batch convert all the containing raw files

i found this info here: http://www.camerahacker.com/Forums/DisplayComments.php?file=Digital%20Camera/RAW_converter_for_linux

switching leicht gemacht – hackintosh made easy

September 17th, 2009 No comments

Switch!
